Before Jo was famous she used to be a cabaret singer and she was known by the
name, Joanna London. She started appearing in talent competitions all around
the country from the age of 13 after initially plucking up the courage to pick
up the microphone at a local kareoke contest. From then on, Jo gained lots of
singing and performing experience from all kinds of competitions (and picking
up the winning acolade in many of them!), before joining the Italia Conti Stage
School in London.

(nice fashion there Jo...)
You may have seen a clip of Jo singing 'Fame' when she was 15 on 'Before They
Were Famous' - we will soon be having the clip, or possibly the full length
audio version which did NOT appear on TV, so keep an eye out for that one, along
with some captures of the full performance.
If you have ever seen the clip, you will know that even from an extremely young
age, Jo had a really strong, powerful voice which has developed into the one
that we all know and love.
Some of the songs that Jo used to sing back in the talent show days include:
+ Fame
+ Where The Boys Are
+ Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me
+ Flashdance (What a feeling)
+ Love Is All Around
+ I'm Sorry
+ Wind Beneath My Wings
+ Hopelessly Devoted To You
... amongst many others and for Jo, these songs still remain a kareoke favourite
for her up until this day. She also recorded and sung a song which she co-wrote
herself during these years.
